Reading slump?

Hello lovely readers. This week I have something to discuss with you all and that is the so called “reading slump” and that I have been affected by it in some form or way this September and a bit this month.

I haven’t posted many book reviews because I’ve been reading for fun at times or I’ve picked up five different books which after reading only 30 pages or less, I have abandoned them. I don’t even want to update my goodreads current reading list because I keep adding and taking off books.

For a book blogger not reading is dangerous because that means no book review posts and honestly, I love to write those things even though every time I have to write one I moan on the inside and dread it. I believe a part of the reason I do is because I want to convey my words the best possible way without sounding cliche or boring. I also want to do the book and author justice by writing a good review (not talking about rating, but about the quality of my review).

I believe that my dread of writing book reviews, my busy schedule, my internship, and other things going on have pushed me into some sort of reading slump. Normally, I wouldn’t mind, but after running this blog for almost a year now, I panic if I can’t read. It almost feels like the end of the world. How can I do features if I’m not reading much?

How do you all deal with the pressure of having to constantly read?

(Also, I’ve finally gotten interested in a book and I’m halfway through it… The sad part… It’s not a part of my to do a book review for pile. Oops.)

Changing the template for Book Reviews

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all having a lovely Tuesday.

I’m announcing today that I am changing my book review template so I can better evaluate and review books. The parts that I’m changing are the main sections, “What I like” and “What I dislike” to “Initial Thoughts” and ” Review”. A reason why I am changing how books are reviewed is because my old template is basically saying that the book I am reviewing has both good stuff and negative stuff. Sometimes that isn’t the case so I’ve created a new template where I can criticize and analyze books in a better and more efficient way.

That is all and I hope you guys have a great week!

Update: Blog News

Hey guys! Veronica here.

Sorry the blog has been a little slow for the past two weeks. Both Anjie and I have been really busy and have fallen out of practice with blogging, but fear not, I will try to keep the ball rolling again next week.

I do want to mention that I will be doing a review of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell for the new official Tumblr Book Club. I was one of several book blogs over at Tumblr that were chosen to be official correspondents. For the month of September, Tumblr partnered with Rainbow Rowell, and I can’t wait to see who they partner with for the month of October.

I hope you guys are having a wonderful week and keep on reading!

New Design

Hello lovely followers and fellow book readers,

For a while now, I’ve been wanting to update the website, make it more user friendly and also make it look nicer. After some deliberating about what colors I wanted and how I wanted it to look, I’ve finally decided upon a design and here it is!

Hope you guys like the new design!

To the right of the website we have the pages menu, follow button, and my Goodreads.

At the bottom of the website, we have the categories, archives, and recent posts menu.

Thank you for following me and I hope y’all have a nice day!

Happy Reading,

Veronica

The Editor Writes: News

Hello Readers!

First of all, I want to apologize for being inactive the last few weeks, especially the last two. I had to go out of the country to see family, and then I got really sick. I got a bad case of the Stomach Flu. It wasn’t pretty. I’m still recuperating.

Second, I’m currently participating in the BookTube-a-Thon or the BookTube Read-a-Thon. It lasts from July 15th-21st.

Third, because I went out of the country, I wasn’t able to read and post the Book Blast from the Past Feature. Hopefully, next month I will be able to do the feature.

The Book Spotlight feature will still be going on except with a few new changes that will go into effect this Thursday. The first and third Thursday will be dedicated to YA Contemporary & Mystery. The second and fourth Thursday of the month will be dedicated to YA Fantasy/Paranormal/Sci Fi.

That’s all the news I have for now. Hope you all have a wonderful summer day.

Happy Reading,

Veronica

This week’s important news

Good Morning to all who live in the pacific west coast of the USA like myself. To everyone else… Hello!

First, I want to apologize for not posting Day 4 or Day 5 of the 30 Day Book Challenge. I’ve been really busy with job interviews, job search, and other responsibilities.

Second, I have a goodie for you all! Last night I went to Richelle Mead’s Event at Barnes & Nobles in Santa Monica, CA. I will be posting a special post on that event very soon! We have some information on The Fiery Heart, Gameboard of the Gods, and Blood Sisters updates! I will of course not give too much away for the sake of courtesy but I will have pictures and some of her responses to the Q&A session. Lastly, there will be pictures! I already posted one of myself with Richelle Mead at the event over at my tumblr.

That is all the news I have for you and please be patient with me this week. Hope you’re all having a lovely week.

Happy Thursday!

June News

Hello Everyone!

Glad to be back to normal!

For the month of June Book Blast from the Past which happens the first Saturday of the month will be postponed until the 2nd Saturday of this month instead. Why? Because I had not noticed that the first day of June was a Saturday. My bad. Sorry guys. Book Spotlight will be changing. It will now happen every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. More Posts! Yay! Reviews of books I am reading will come as I read them. That will stay the same. Top Ten Tuesdays will continue to be a feature I partake in. Everything is back to normal with a few minor tweaks.

Dates:

Book Blast from the Past: 6/8/13

Book Spotlight: 6/13/13 & 6/27/13

I am currently reading The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler. Expect a review of that book soon. So far, I’m loving it.

That is all for the news of the month of June.

May (A sort of hiatus)

Hello everyone!

I am in the last two weeks of school, then a week of finals, and at the end of that week, I graduate! It’s crunch time for me so I have canceled Book Blast from the Past and Book Spotlight for this month. I will continue to do my normal reviews (If I can find time to read and do all of my final papers and assignments) and I will definitely continue to do the Top Ten Tuesday meme because I need some fun and consistency in this blog. The blog will return to normal in the month of June.

Happy Reading!
