End of the New Year, But Same Old Me

The last time I wrote to you was at the start of the year 2021 and we are less than a month away from the end of 2022 and the start of 2023.

As you last checked in on me, I was re-reading ACOWAR because ACOSF was going to come out in February… I laugh at that Veronica since I have not only read ACOSF but read HOEAB and HOSAB (aka Crescent City series). Yes, the Sarah J. Maas addiction is alive and thriving.

I am currently partaking in Rosebud’s Realm Maas-Read-Along. We just finished re-reading the TOG series and are onto ACOTAR in the new year.

I am also in the middle of reading A Light in the Flame by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I am utterly amused that she used the phrase ‘Daddy Nyktos‘ in the book. She definitely follows the fandom closely.

I hope to make my review of ALINF my first comeback review after not actively reviewing books on here since 2018.

Until the next time…

New Year, Same Me

Hello. Veronica Here.

Did your jaw drop to see a post from The Talking Bookworm? Mine did as well and I am the one writing this.

I am the classic example of letting life get too busy, but in the stillness that we inherited in 2020 and now that has come with us into 2021, I’ve decided to start posting again.

Yes, I still read on my spare time, but it is nowhere in the numbers it used to be. I don’t read 100+ books a year. More like 15-20 on average in the last couple of years. Lots of rereads which is now leading me into discovering lots of new gems that were published in the last couple of years that I have been MIA.

I started the year with a ACOTAR re-read as “A Court of Silver Flames” comes out in February. I am currently on ACOWAR, a hundred pages from the end.

I guess a new thing about me is that I’ve gotten into video games. While I can’t call myself a gamer since I only play on the Nintendo Switch, Animal Crossing and Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild were my top games for 2020. I am currently playing Octopath Traveler.

2021 was supposed to be my big 3-0 year. I had plans to do a lot of things… but alas… the world had other plans.

You can expect to start seeing more from me in the coming months. I may review some old favorites again, or some new stuff. We shall see.

I hope everyone is being safe and well. It is important to be mind and body healthy during these trying times.

Update

Hello Everyone.

It has been some time since Liz or I posted something on the blog. Both of us have gone through major life events and needed to take a hiatus.

For many that do not know, I am now married and my one year anniversary is coming up on the 24th of this month. I can say that so far it’s been great being married. I was lucky enough to marry someone who is my other half, my Étienne. Yes, very corny but it is the truth.

Now, onto the blog. I will be planning on restarting doing reviews again, but I will be much slower than before. Please only except a few reviews a month at most.

Thank you to everyone who still follows us, you guys are the real MVP. I wish everyone a Happy Belated New Year.

Happy 5th Anniversary

I have no words to describe the milestone The Talking Bookworm has hit. Even though this last year was slower than normal, life made both Liz and I very busy, but we are still here. I’m finally back in the states and settled. I’ve been doing lots of re-reading in the past few months which is why there have been no new reviews from me. Either way, I wanted to acknowledge that TTB has hit 5 years… and counting. Thank you all who have been with us. We wish you all Happy Reading (and a Happy New Year)!

Announcement: 1 Month Hiatus – March

Hello all of my beautiful people. Veronica here.

You probably already know what I’m going to say just from the title. Liz and I will be going on a month long hiatus. As you’ve probably noticed, our posts have become less and less frequent and this is due to… life. I know this is not the excuse or reason you may have wanted, but we are currently both in one of the busiest times of our lives. While we are still committed to book blogging and continuing this 4 year tradition, we do need to take a month off in order to slowly get back into the swing of things.

This is for the sake of our sanity and feeling like we have a breathing moment.

We will be back in April with new content! I’m excited for this sort of sabbatical where I am not worried about the blog and can just rest and read leisurely. I believe that this will finally let me get out of the reading funk I’ve been in the past couple of months.

Thanks for being faithful readers and I am so excited for a future with all of you.

With Love and AppreciationVero Signature copy,

The Talking Bookworm’s 4th Anniversary

Writers Corner

As I sit here in my classroom I reminisce on the past 4 years that I’ve had this blog. So much has happened. We’ve had changes in staff and other normal things, but we are still here and that is what counts.

The Talking Bookworm has evolved over the years to what it is today. Each year we grow in numbers and I hope you may agree in the quality of content as well. We cover more sub-genres than before and there has been more content on the blog compared last year and that is all thanks to Liz Brooks my co-blogger. The biggest change for the blog this past year was her presence and I am forever grateful she is a part of it.

Now, coming into the 4th year, I hope you will continue to visit this blog and be a part of our community. Thank you all for your constant support and love.

Here is to another fantastic year *raises glass* CHEERS!

Editorial: The US Election

Hello Guys.

I feel like many book bloggers are taking hiatus’ because of the US presidential election results. I will not be taking one so please look forward to book reviews and other bookish posts.

My experience was a different one than most Americans as I am currently working abroad in a country that has good relations with the US. While it did not have the same impact as I am not currently living in America, I understand you all. Many of you know I am Mexican-American. That should tell you a lot about my opinion of Trump. But I am choosing to be optimistic. I choose to not be filled with fear and dread. The country my parents come from is a lot more messed up than the United States and even then I still love it.  You can either be a part of the change or whine and moan, and do nothing. I understand we all need to mourn and grieve. We need time to come to terms with what just happened. But I will tell you this. The United States is still a great country regardless of the people who live in it. We had a fair and square election which does not exist in many countries.

If you want to see change and a different America you need to act and be the change. Be optimistic. Inspire others to be the change. And the only way this will work is by loving those who disagree with us, our neighbors and our enemies. If we don’t do that, we are no better than them.

I hope you will continue to read this blog. This blog is neither Blue or Red, Republican or Democrat. This blog is here to talk about books and be a bridge that connects people across the world. In a way, we are an entertainment blog as well find books entertaining, which is why this is the last time I will mention anything political on here. I just needed to address such a big event on such a tense time in the history of America.

The world has its eyes on you America. Will the world be filled with hope or despair? What will you do? What will WE do?

With Hope,

Where is Veronica? (Editor News)

Well hello my lovely readers. I hope you are all having a wonderful day.

blJcJsQKQjGARx7rLGQg_Whale Hello

I just wanted to catch everybody up on why I have been MIA these past few months and more so this month. I know some of you have noticed that Liz has been reviewing books like crazy and you are sitting there wondering… where did Veronica go? It is time I updated you on my crazy life.

tumblr_inline_nzphp6PZpi1sr8rpr_500

These past few months have been hectic to say the least. I am working full-time, going to school, and getting ready to move again. Not sure if ya’ll remember I moved around this same time last year. And yes, I am moving again so soon. Thankfully I’ve found a new place to live, but because my apartment lease ends at the end of this month, I’ve been having to move stuff into storage as I am downsizing. My weekends have been full with packing, doing homework, and my daughter duties (gotta help out my momma).

I did find time to go to YALLWEST at the beginning of this month, but I have yet to make the post. This was my second year attending and it was wonderful. I wish I could have stayed in Santa Monica longer, but alas the real world waited for me.

This past weekend I was also out of town because I had to visit my grandparents. They live about 4 hours away so that alone constitutes a two-day trip. Weekend who? What’s a weekend?

The good news is that I will be done with my certification by the end of this month and I will be moving over Memorial day weekend, so I will soon find some peace and will be able to read again. Well, I am reading, but not necessarily for pleasure at the moment.

I will assure you that soon, the blog will go back to normal and you will all be seeing more of me again. There are also some exciting new features that will be coming to the blog and we have already started revamping the blog as well so it is easier for you guys to find older reviews. So many new things coming your way!

I want to thank everyone for sticking with us. We appreciate all of your comments, likes, views, and all of the love and support you show us. We couldn’t have asked for a better readership.

And as I close this out, I want to say I am very thankful for Liz, my co-blogger. In my times of need, she has been my rock and kept this blog going. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
