Five Bookish Habits I Want To Quit

TopTenTuesday

Thank you to The Broke and The Bookish for this wonderful meme! If you want to learn how to participate, click here and check it out. Promise you won’t regret it.

Moment of truth. Let’s be real today.

There are many things I hate doing, but I always do them. We all have them, but we don’t want to tell anyone, especially if you are a book blogger *hides*. But I will be truthful today and I have a feeling at least some of you are doing of the same things I am. At least I tell myself that to feel better. Whatever works right?

1. Start A Book and Leave It Aside For Several Months

Ahhhh… Yes. I do this a lot. I do this more as the years go by. I told myself I would never be one of those readers that started books and would not finish them for months at a time and… I became one. Shame on me. I hope I change that new habit soon.

2. Not Review Guilty Pleasure Reads

My guilty pleasures are either New Adult or YA Fantasy books. I tell myself I don’t know much about the subject, therefore I cannot make an educated review. BULLCRAP I tell you. I need to start writing reviews on books that I LOVE. Honestly, I think it’s the fear of not properly reviewing it due to fan-girling that stops me from writing reviews on those type of novels.

3. Buy Books That I Won’t Read In The Next Six Months

YALLWEST. I bought ALL THE BOOKS at YALLWEST. Have I read any that I bought? NO. I need to stop. So far, I’ve successfully changed my ways in the last few months, but I hope I keep being good and don’t binge buy books one day.

4.Buy Books because they are cheap, not because I want them

I feel like that goes with number 3, but it also has to be addressed as its own topic. Who apart from me is guilty of at least doing this once? *raises hand* I’m right there with you. I’ve been really good at not buying books just because they’re cheap this year, but last year is a whole other story. I lived in Texas for three months and there was a Half Price Books right around the corner. I’m sure you can fill in the rest. O_O

5. Tell Myself I have to read a book in one-sitting

This is a new one I’ve been struggling with. I used to have the time to read books in one go, but each day we get busier and there are new things that need to be done and in turn makes it not possible to a read book in one sitting. I wish I had 3-4 hours at a time to read and not feel guilty. I also like to procrastinate at times so… that’s also why I put of reading. Yes, I need help. *cries*

Any of you have some of the same habits that they’re trying to kick to the curb? I know it will be hard to, but my goal is to slowly but surely start changing my habits. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes. What are some of your bad bookish habits? Come on… I know you all have some too. 🙂

Top Four Book Related Problems I Have

TopTenTuesday

Thank you to The Broke and The Bookish for this wonderful meme! If you want to learn how to participate, click here and check it out. Promise you won’t regret it.  🙂

This week for Top Ten Tuesday is all about the Top Book Related Problems We Have. This is tough one because I have a ton of bookish problems, but also I am in denial. I feel like I’m at the shrink’s or something.

#1 I buy books without reading the back because I’ve loved one book I’ve read of X author.

I do this a lot more than I did before. I use to spend hours browsing at the bookstore and that helped with the whole let’s read the back and the first three pages to see if I want to buy it. Now I see something online and buy it. I might have to start doing the whole bookstore thing again.

#2 I buy books because they are extremely cheap and then I forget about them

Two summers ago Go Hastings was the place to shop online for really inexpensive in really good condition used books. So I bought over 20 and I’ve only read a handful of them. I stopped shopping there when their free shipping thing went away. It was probably for the best.

#3 When I read a really good book, I have a tons of feels so my initial reaction is to NOT post a review. I justify it by saying no one wants to read a fangirl rant. No one…

#4 I have found the true love of my life, but he’s fictional. Do you know how big of a problem it is that Adrian Ivashkov doesn’t exist! *cries*

What are some of your bookish problems?

Top Ten Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read From The YA Contemporary Genre

TopTenTuesday

Thank you to The Broke and The Bookish for this wonderful meme! If you want to learn how to participate, click here and check it out. Promise you won’t regret it.  🙂

This week its all about the Top Ten Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read From The YA Contemporary Genre. This list makes me feel ashamed about myself, but it’s out there now. For all to see. Hopefully this will be enough motivation so that I can finally read the books. Here we go!

18189606

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson  I know. I know. I tell everyone to read Morgan Matson. I force people to read her books yet I haven’t finished this one yet. I’m ashamed of myself.

lovedbefore1full

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han  I love Jenny Han. I may have hated how she ended The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, but she is still an amazing writer and I don’t have any excuses as to why I haven’t read it yet. NONE.

gayle-forman-just-one-day-year-books-big-screen

Just One Day & Just One Year by Gayle Forman  I think I just love the If I Stay duology so much that I feel like I can’t get into these books. Is that sad? Maybe.. maybe. I don’t know.

Just_One_Night

Just One Night by Gayle Forman  See my above argument. I know. I am shameless at this point.

9781595145147_p0_v1_s260x420

The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder I know why I haven’t read it… because Kayla said it was going to kill me emotionally and now I am afraid. I blame you Kayla.

51CGB-a-tTL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

Slammed (#1 in the Slammed Trilogy) by Colleen Hoover  I know why I haven’t read this. Because I started it once and it killed my feels in the first 40 pages. I couldn’t go back. I’ll muster enough bravery one of these days…

13645645

Uninvited by Sophie Jordan  I think the cover always made me look the other way, but I was browsing through Goodreads earlier and I saw this and I said to myself “Have I been riding under a rock?! Why haven’t I heard anything about it?!” so a very sane conversation with myself I decided I would add it to this list because I can’t believe I didn’t know about it, and that I haven’t read it either. Shame on me. SHAME.

18295852

The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith  I started reading it once. I tried really, but then I just felt like my feels were going to die so I stopped. Do you see a pattern here because I do. I’m not in denial. I embrace my craziness.

9780316212823_p0_v2_s260x420

This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith  I started reading this before it was published. An ebook chapter sampler with the first five chapters came out and I read it, and I was stoked! Ready to devour it when it came out! And then it was released… and I never got around to reading it. SHAME ON ME.

Do we have any books in common by any chance? I can only hope someone shares this same madness with me.

Top Ten (Seven, really) Character’s I’d Like to Be Best Friends With

TopTenTuesday

Thank you to The Broke and The Bookish for this wonderful meme! If you want to learn how to participate, click here and check it out. Promise you won’t regret it.  🙂

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is a freebie and I’ve decided to do something fun,  Top Ten Character’s I’d Like to Be Best Friends With.

There are many characters that we love, but sometimes they wouldn’t exactly be BFF material for us. I thought deeply about this and this is who has made it on my I WANT THEM TO BE MY BFF list.

1. Sydney from Vampire Academy and  Bloodlines Series

She and I would definitely get along together. I’m also a fiercely loyal person and I like that characteristics in my to be bestie too. 😀

2. Adrian from Vampire Academy and  Bloodlines Series

Gosh, I want that hunk of a man as my best friend. At times I can be a little uptight and I know he would make any boring task into a fun one. Also fiercely loyal as well.

3. Rose from Vampire Academy Series

In the past I had a best friend that was a bit like Rose and we actually got along fine. We were a perfect friendship match. We were quite a team. Too bad we lost touch when I moved cities. This was back in the year 2000.

4. Eddie from Vampire Academy and  Bloodlines Series

Eddie is the type of guy friend I like to have as a best friend. He may not bear his soul, but he knows what’s important and is always there for you when you need him.

5. Savannah from Racing Savannah

Savannah and I are somewhat alike and I think those similarities would make us really good friends.

6. Mia from If I Stay Duology

Mia and I are so similar at times, it’s kinda freaky. But the differences we do have would make us really good friends. It also helps that I was the girl who at the age of 8 preferred the cello over any other instrument. I played it for many years until I wasn’t able to rent one from the school. Moving out of that district was the worst thing ever because it stunted my growth as a cello player. 😦

7. Sydney from Maybe Someday

Sydney and I would be GREAT friends. I just know it. I can’t even explain it. I just KNOW.

Who do you think would make a great BFF for you? Tell me! I’d like to know.
