Part Two: Swoon Worthy Quotes

Liz

  • “Don’t cry.”
“How can I not?” I asked him. “You just said you loved me.”
“Well, why else did you think all of this was happening?” He set the book aside to wrap his arms around me. “The Furies wouldn’t be trying to kill you if I didn’t love you.”
“I didn’t know,” I said. Tears were trickling down my cheeks, but I did nothing to try to stop them. His shirt was absorving most of them. “You never said anything about it. Every time I saw you, you just acted so… wild.”
“How was I supposed to act?” he asked. “You kept doing things like throwing tea in my face.”
    Meg Cabot, Abandon
  • “I can’t stop thinking about you,” he whispers.
He moves in, closer, lips pausing inches from mine. Wraps his arms around me, pulling me into him. I let out a quick gasp of air.
“I dream about you,” he murmurs, eyes grasping mine.
“You don’t sleep,” I choke, feeling a delirious passion coursing through my veins.
“I dream about your smile. About touching you. I dream about being with you. Like this.”
    Katie Klein, The Guardian
  • “I have better things to do.”
    “Like what?”
He opens one eye and looks at me. “Like convince a stubborn girl to admit she’s madly in love with me.”
    Susan Ee, End of Days
  • “… Somebody who helps balance her out, someone who makes sure her feet stay on the ground when life is tough and lift up into the aid when her lips find his. She needs somebody smart and funny and comfortable and exciting all at the same time. She needs somebody to go to sleep with who makes her feel secure enough not to care that she snores or drools, and somebody to wake up with who won’t judge her when he hair sticks up and pillowcase lines crease her face.”
Heather Lyons, A Matter of Truth
  • “I can’t keep pretending that I don’t want this – that I don’t want you. I can’t. Not after what happened to you. It thought… I thought I’d lost you, Alex, forever. And I would’ve lost everything. You are my everything.”
    Jennifer L. Armentrout, Deity
  • “You’re beautiful, Genesis.” I swallowed, placing my hands on the table in front of her. “Immortals would fight wars over you, and not just your face or your hair or the way your smile penetrates to someone’s very soul — but because you’re good.”
Rachel Van Dyken, The Dark Ones
  • “I’m glad you misdialed.”
“Well. Easy mistake to make,” she said. “Might do it again.” A very, very long pause. She opened her mouth to fill it, then changed her mind and didn’t. She was shivering again, even though she wasn’t cold with the pillow on her legs.
“Shouldn’t,” Gansey said finally. “But I hope you do.”
Maggie Stiefvater, Blue Lily, Lily Blue
  • “You cannot fathom the distance I would travel for you.”
    Alexandra Bracken, Passenger

Veronica

  • “He reached out and pulled me to him, one hand on my waist and the other behind my neck. He tipped my head up and lowered his lips to mine. I closed my eyes and melted as my whole body was consumed in that kiss. I was nothing. I was everything. Chills, ran over my skin, and fire burned inside me. His body pressed closer to mine, and I wrapped my arms around his neck. His lips were warmer and softer than anything I could have ever imagined, yet fierce and powerful at the same time. Mine responded hungrily, and I tightened my hold on him. His fingers slid down the back of my neck, tracing its shape, and every place they touched was electric.”

Richelle Mead, The Golden Lily

  • “I tried to be a better person for her, but it was to impress her, to get her to want me. But when I’m around you, I want to be better because… well, because it feels right. Because I want to. You make me want to become something greater than myself. I want to excel. You inspire me in every act, every word, every glance. I look at you, and you’re like… like light made into flesh. […] You have no clue how beautiful you are or how brightly you shine.”

Richelle Mead, The Golden Lily

  • “The moment my lips touch yours, it will be your first kiss. Because if you’ve never felt anything when someone’s kissed you, then no one’s ever really kissed you. Not the way I plan on kissing you.”

Colleen Hoover, Hopeless

  • “I kiss her every way I can possibly kiss her, because I plan on loving her every way I can possibly love her. Every single time we refused to cave in to our feelings in the past makes this kiss completely worth the sacrifices.”

Colleen Hoover, Maybe Someday

  • “I know that unlike that night, tonight I won’t kiss her. Or touch her. Or even see her up close.
Tonight, I’ll listen. And that’ll be enough.”

Gayle Forman, Where She Went

Top Four Book Related Problems I Have

TopTenTuesday

Thank you to The Broke and The Bookish for this wonderful meme! If you want to learn how to participate, click here and check it out. Promise you won’t regret it.  🙂

This week for Top Ten Tuesday is all about the Top Book Related Problems We Have. This is tough one because I have a ton of bookish problems, but also I am in denial. I feel like I’m at the shrink’s or something.

#1 I buy books without reading the back because I’ve loved one book I’ve read of X author.

I do this a lot more than I did before. I use to spend hours browsing at the bookstore and that helped with the whole let’s read the back and the first three pages to see if I want to buy it. Now I see something online and buy it. I might have to start doing the whole bookstore thing again.

#2 I buy books because they are extremely cheap and then I forget about them

Two summers ago Go Hastings was the place to shop online for really inexpensive in really good condition used books. So I bought over 20 and I’ve only read a handful of them. I stopped shopping there when their free shipping thing went away. It was probably for the best.

#3 When I read a really good book, I have a tons of feels so my initial reaction is to NOT post a review. I justify it by saying no one wants to read a fangirl rant. No one…

#4 I have found the true love of my life, but he’s fictional. Do you know how big of a problem it is that Adrian Ivashkov doesn’t exist! *cries*

What are some of your bookish problems?

Top Ten Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read From The YA Contemporary Genre

TopTenTuesday

Thank you to The Broke and The Bookish for this wonderful meme! If you want to learn how to participate, click here and check it out. Promise you won’t regret it.  🙂

This week its all about the Top Ten Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read From The YA Contemporary Genre. This list makes me feel ashamed about myself, but it’s out there now. For all to see. Hopefully this will be enough motivation so that I can finally read the books. Here we go!

18189606

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson  I know. I know. I tell everyone to read Morgan Matson. I force people to read her books yet I haven’t finished this one yet. I’m ashamed of myself.

lovedbefore1full

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han  I love Jenny Han. I may have hated how she ended The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, but she is still an amazing writer and I don’t have any excuses as to why I haven’t read it yet. NONE.

gayle-forman-just-one-day-year-books-big-screen

Just One Day & Just One Year by Gayle Forman  I think I just love the If I Stay duology so much that I feel like I can’t get into these books. Is that sad? Maybe.. maybe. I don’t know.

Just_One_Night

Just One Night by Gayle Forman  See my above argument. I know. I am shameless at this point.

9781595145147_p0_v1_s260x420

The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder I know why I haven’t read it… because Kayla said it was going to kill me emotionally and now I am afraid. I blame you Kayla.

51CGB-a-tTL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

Slammed (#1 in the Slammed Trilogy) by Colleen Hoover  I know why I haven’t read this. Because I started it once and it killed my feels in the first 40 pages. I couldn’t go back. I’ll muster enough bravery one of these days…

13645645

Uninvited by Sophie Jordan  I think the cover always made me look the other way, but I was browsing through Goodreads earlier and I saw this and I said to myself “Have I been riding under a rock?! Why haven’t I heard anything about it?!” so a very sane conversation with myself I decided I would add it to this list because I can’t believe I didn’t know about it, and that I haven’t read it either. Shame on me. SHAME.

18295852

The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith  I started reading it once. I tried really, but then I just felt like my feels were going to die so I stopped. Do you see a pattern here because I do. I’m not in denial. I embrace my craziness.

9780316212823_p0_v2_s260x420

This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith  I started reading this before it was published. An ebook chapter sampler with the first five chapters came out and I read it, and I was stoked! Ready to devour it when it came out! And then it was released… and I never got around to reading it. SHAME ON ME.

Do we have any books in common by any chance? I can only hope someone shares this same madness with me.

Top Five Favorite Classic Books

toptentuesday-1Thank you The Broke and The Bookish for creating this great meme!

Hey Hey Hey! I’m back! Sort of… Well I’m back as much as I can be back, but I’m here and that’s what counts (or at least that’s what I tell myself). This week we have Top Ten Five Favorite Classic Books and I wasn’t too sure I should do this, but I said why not!

51grMGCKivL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

1. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

I really hated being told what to read in school, but I did it anyways. One day, my freshman high school english teacher made us read this book and it was the first book of assigned reading I had ever enjoyed. I think it’s still my favorite modern classic to this day. I even bought my own personal copy.

wuthering-heights-by-emily-bronte

2. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

Yes, it’s dark and twisted. Yes, it’s a horrible example of what love and family is. The thing about this book though is that it’s addicting, it’s dark, and there is something there that makes you feel sympathy for the very twisted, selfish, and bitter characters. I think I also like it because it was the first old classic that I ever tackled on all my own when I was in high school. I was so proud of myself when I had finished it.

3. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

This classic play is my favorite play of all time. I laughed when I read it the first time around and I was more than happy to write an essay about it.

Black-Beauty-book-cover-black-beauty-27648296-360-475

4. Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

I read this in the 9th grade because I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. I actually really liked it. If I do remember correctly, it’s a sad book, but what counts is that I enjoyed it and have fond memories of it. On the list it goes.

51V4ZQ1uDdL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

5. Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell

In middle school and high school I was obsessed with dolphins. They were my favorite animal. If it had dolphins, I wanted it. I was browsing the library one day when I saw this book about dolphins and I snatched it before anyone else saw it and took it home. Over the next couple of days I was introduced to a type of writing I had never read before. When I try to remember this book, I remember parts of it in a foggy way. I just remember reading it and thinking to myself, “Wow, how can a book make me feel like I’m there with her, I can see the fog, and see the beach she sees.” Fourteen year old me thought it was crazy and cool. Island of the Blue Dolphins was the first classic I ever read.

What are some of your favorite classics?
