Thank you The Broke and the Bookish for this wonderful Tuesday Meme
This week’s topic is Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition.
Veronica’s List:
1. Joanna Philbin: One day I was browsing the YA section at Barnes and Noble’s and this book cover caught my eye. After seeing what the story was about, I bought. Ever since then, I read anything Joanna Philbin writes. I love authors whose writing is effortless to read. She’s one of those authors. 🙂
2. Jennifer Jabaley: Sadly, Jennifer only has two novels out, but I still love her. I like the way she builds the world and can write about heavy or silly subjects, but still make them enjoyable.
3. Heather Hepler: I’ve only read The Cupcake Queen by Ms. Hepler, but just with one novel I was sold. As I was reading the story I felt as if I was in the bakery. Now… I want a cupcake.
4. Lisa & Laura Roecker: This duo of writing sisters are my favorite at the moment. Their murder mystery novels are fantastic. Especially, The Liar Society series. Their writing is witty. At times a little harsh, but in a good way.
5. Sarah Ockler: She is one of the few authors that is able to not just cast a spotlight on the romance, but on other types of love, like the love between family members and friends.
Anjie’s List:
6. Courtney Allison Moulton: Angelfire is one of my favorite trilogies of all time! Courtney created amazing characters that I really loved, especially the heroine and I usually can’t stand some of them.
7. Gayle Forman: I especially loved her duology, If I Stay & Where She Went. The plot and the writing brought me to tears!
8. Kiera Cass: She is a new favorite of mine! I love her writing style and The Selection was an amazing read and after reading the sequel, The Elite, I wanted more!
9. Kristin Cashore: She might be a bit more known than the others on the list but I still think she’s great! I loved Graceling and the world that she built in the novels.
10. Aimee Carter: I love Greek mythology and because of Aimee, I’m madly in love with Hades!
I haven’t read any of these author’s books, but the majority of them look pretty great 😀
You totally should! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
I haven’t read most of these authors, except for of course “if i stay” and I actually didn’t read that I listened to it on audio :P. Lovely list, I should maybe get on these authors
Did you read/hear Where She Went? Thank you for stopping by!
If you like Murder Mysterys with a girl with funky colored hair, start with Liar Society by Lisa & Laura Roecker! Those sisters can write! 🙂
Kiera Cass certainly doesn’t get the love she serves. That series is my book crack!
Great list!
My TTT List
I agree! She needs more praise. I cannot wait for the release of The One! It’s giving me anxiety haha
The Selection series is most certainly addicting!
Aww I love this list! Especially the Gayle Forman bit (If I Stay was pure love). Kiera Cass makes me enjoy her books, for some reason :O I also love Angelfire, and really want to read The Goddess Test and The Book Of Broken Hearts 😀 I’d love to hear what you think of them too!
Hello! Thank you for stopping by! I fell in love with If I Stay! Have you read Where She Went? I’m looking forward to reading her newest book, Just One Day. How awesome!! I have yet to meet anyone who has read Angelfire! What were your thoughts on the trilogy? I loved the ending!
Goddess Test was really great, especially for fans of Greek Mythology! It was so fun and it had some great twists in Greek myth. You definitely will have a different view of Hades (he is now my favorite, I’m literally in love with him haha).
You’re welcome! Yes! I happen to read A LOT of Gayle Forman 🙂 Just One Day’s out, and I loved it, though got frustrated at the ending, which hopefully will be answered in Just One Year (from Willem’s POV!) I thought Angelfire was just okay at first, but it progressed, and yeah I love that ending! Sad it’s over really… And now I really want to read The Goddess Test. I’ve always been weirdly attracted to Hades. Haha!
Oh! I’m so excited! I’ll be picking them up on my next book haul!! I love reading books through the guy’s POV. I’m sad it’s over, too. I can’t wait to read more from the author though. Oh how funny! I always felt like he was misunderstood but how Aimee Carter writes his character, it was like he stood in a different light. Hope you enjoy the books as much as I did. Did you ever read the Percy Jackson series?
Yes, for some reason, it’s really exciting to read from male POV’s. I guess it’s not just me after all! And PERCY JACKSON! Of course! I also read Heroes of Olympus 🙂 Those books are the cool beans of YA. SO looking forward to House of Hades!
The Book of Broken Hearts is really good! I loved it! Sarah Ockler is known for not just having romantic love as most YA Contemp books have, but she’s really good at bringing the love between family members and friends comes to life. The book of broken hearts is about the main characters dealing with her father’s illness at the same time dealing with her family’s opinion on whose fixing her dad’s bike and that is a Vargas boy. Her sisters despise the Varga’s boys for many legitimate reasons. The story was real and believable and it just knows where the soft spots in your heart are located. I recommend it! 🙂
There are so many books here that I’ve been wanting to read — The Book of Broken Hearts, If I Stay, Graceling. I also now want to add The Cupcake Queen to my list. Great list 🙂
Thank you!! Those are some amazing reads there 🙂
