June News

Hello Everyone!

Glad to be back to normal!

For the month of June Book Blast from the Past which happens the first Saturday of the month will be postponed until the 2nd Saturday of this month instead. Why? Because I had not noticed that the first day of June was a Saturday. My bad. Sorry guys. Book Spotlight will be changing. It will now happen every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. More Posts! Yay! Reviews of books I am reading will come as I read them. That will stay the same. Top Ten Tuesdays will continue to be a feature I partake in. Everything is back to normal with a few minor tweaks.

Dates:

Book Blast from the Past: 6/8/13

Book Spotlight: 6/13/13 & 6/27/13

I am currently reading The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler. Expect a review of that book soon. So far, I’m loving it.

That is all for the news of the month of June.

Happy Reading!

Book Spotlight #2 All-American Girl by Meg Cabot

Another segment of Book Spotlight is brought to you by yours truly, The Talking Bookworm.

All-American Girl is a book I loved when I read in high school. Meg Cabot was my favorite author through middle school and high school and I still love her writing, but she hasn’t come out with any new YA books the past few years (or anything apart from the Princes Diaries Series). It seems she has switched her focus to adult fiction for the time being. Hope you like my recommendation for the month of April!

Book Title: All-American Girl (All-American Girl #1)

Author: Meg Cabot

Org. Publication Date: August 2003

Goodreads Summary:

Samantha Madison is an average, cool Washington, D.C., teen: She loves Gwen Stefani (who doesn’t?), can draw like nobody’s business, and enjoys being opposite to her sister’s annoying ultra-social personality. But when she ditches art class one day, she doesn’t expect to be jumping on the back of a wannabe presidential assassin. Soon the young hero is receiving worldwide acclaim for her bravery, having dinner with her family at the White House, and is even being named teen ambassador to the UN. As if this weren’t enough, she and David, the president’s son, strike up a friendship that everyone wants the dirt on, which starts to give her romantic “frisson” feelings. Unfortunately, Sam thinks her sister’s boyfriend, Jack, is the true love of her life, and she makes a few wrong turns that could screw up what she’s developing with David. Will she ever stop following what she knows and start following what she sees?

Book Spotlight: #1 Getting Over Garrett Delaney

Hello Readers!

Today debuts another new segment called, “Book Spotlight”. Book Spotlight will be every second Thursday of the month. If the day or frequency changes, I will let you guys know!

This Thursday I recommend:

abby mcdonald - getting over garret delaney

Book Title: Getting Over Garrett Delaney

Author: Abby McDonald

Org. Pub Date: January 24th, 2012

Goodreads Summary:

Seventeen-year-old Sadie is in love: epic, heartfelt, and utterly one-sided. The object of her obsession — ahem, affection — is her best friend, Garrett Delaney, who has been oblivious to Sadie’s feelings ever since he sauntered into her life and wowed her with his passion for Proust (not to mention his deep-blue eyes). For two long, painful years, Sadie has been Garrett’s constant companion, sharing his taste in everything from tragic Russian literature to art films to ’80s indie rock — all to no avail. But when Garrett leaves for a summer literary retreat, Sadie is sure that the absence will make his heart grow fonder — until he calls to say he’s fallen in love. With some other girl! A heartbroken Sadie realizes that she’s finally had enough. It’s time for a total Garrett detox! Aided by a barista job, an eclectic crew of new friends (including the hunky chef, Josh), and a customized self-help guide, Sadie embarks on a summer of personal reinvention full of laughter, mortifying meltdowns, and a double shot of love.

Now, Get off the computer and read it! You won’t regret it!
